"Why we became Eye Exercise Evangelists"

Lesley:

As a young adult I was dismayed to find I could no longer read the signs of on-coming buses - in fact I had to jump out and stop each bus just to check if it was the one I needed!

I'd seen my sisters struggle with glasses and contact lenses throughout their teen years - those moments when they'd yell "Freeze!" and the entire household would drop to their knees to crawl around searching for the missing lens! And at 22 I was told I too would now need to wear glasses - and that eye exercises wouldn't help! I was doomed!

10 years on, multiple prescription increases and many frames and lenses later, I "magically" threw away my glasses. Not because of any mechanical or surgical 'correction', but because I learnt to move my eyes, head and neck differently and to change the way I looked at the horizon! And the fantastic thing is - I wasn't even trying. I had no idea that what I was learning would change my eyesight so radically.

I'm not the only one - Donna Rose has a similar story.

Donna Rose:

That's right - and I've thrown away my glasses twice! The first time they were glasses for short or near sight and that was in my early 30's. But with the pressure of juggling family life, work life and changing cities, I forgot my lesson. It was several years later that I was swept back into glasses again in my early 40's.

There was a degree of inevitability about it, or so I thought, at the time. My Mum had started wearing glasses at 42, many of my friends could no longer pick up a menu or a newspaper without reaching for glasses, and I just seemed to drift back into the assumption that poor eyesight was a natural process of aging. That was until I realized how little they were really doing for me. Great, I could read the print - but I couldn't look up quickly and see my kid's faces in the back yard! And after 20 minutes of reading I'd be rubbing my temples as a headache crept on.

So I made a decision that if I'd done it once, I could do it again. Off came the glasses and I began to play with close and distant vision and how my head and neck could support better vision habits. And here I am today with 20/20 vision and helping people like you regain great eyesight.

We would be delighted to have you as a member of Your Eye Exercises and get the guidance and support to better eye health and vision improvement.
